More Cards Revealed from Sun and Moon Guardians Rising!
For more information of Guardians Rising, please go to my Pokemon TCG News YouTube Playlist. There you will find more videos of this upcoming set. In today’s episode, I will be talking about some new amazing promo cards that will be released in guardians rising. All this information has being confirmed by the cards already revealed from the japanese sets (Islands Waiting For You and Moonlight of Alola) that will be released in japan in March 17th.

The first Pokemon TCG card we will be talking about is, Salazzle.

Salazzle – Fire – HP110

Stage 1 – Evolves from Salandit

Ability: Hot Poison: Once during your turn (before your attack), when you play this card from your hand to evolve 1 of your Pokemon, your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Poisoned and Burned.

[R][C][C] Flamethrower: 90 damage. Discard 1 Energy attached to this Pokemon.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1
Remember that Salazzle is a Stage 1 and evolves from Salandit. This card have one ability called, Hot Poison. With this ability, your Pokemon, your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Poisoned and Burned. Very Important side note! Remember that the Burned Special Condition rule was changed with the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon.

Pokemon TCG Burned Rules:

Before of Sun & Moon: “Once a Pokémon is burned, a Burn marker is placed on it, and the player must flip a coin in between turns. If the coin lands on tails, two damage counters are placed on the Pokémon. If the coin landed on heads, the Pokémon does not receive any damage but remains Burned”.

After Sun & Moon: “Once a Pokémon is burned, two damage counters are placed on it between turns as long as it is burned. After the damage is added, the player with the burned Pokémon must flip a coin: on a heads, the afflicted Pokémon is cured, while on a tails it remains burned.”

So, Hot Poison ability is a very good one, because can produce two conditions at a time, one that adds 20 damage between turns and one that adds 10, so we are talking about 30 damage just by evolving salandit, that’s great. So your opponent now needs to deal with 30 continuous damage between turns until conditions are removed. Plus, Salazzle, also has Flamethrower attack, that makes 90 damage but with the bad side of Discarding 1 Energy attached to this Salazzle. So in one turn you can easily make 120 damage, not so high to eliminate many EX or GX cards, but a powerful cards due to its ability. Its Weakness is Water, as we can expect, and has no resistance, the retreat cost is 1.

Salazzle, previous evolution, Salandit, was also revealed.

Salandit – Fire – HP60Basic Pokemon

[R] Smog: Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent’s Active Pokemon is now Poisoned.

[R][C] Ember: 30 damage. Discard an Energy from Salandit.

Weakness: Water (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

This card is a promo and it is obtained if you buy five booster packs of sun and moon first expansion, by receiving a promo booster pack that contains one of 11 possible cards. (9 Basic Energies, a Salandit, or a shiny Tapu Koko, those two Pokemon are exclusive to the pack). Salandit, also a fire type has 60 HP. And contains two attacks: Smog & Ember. The weakness is water, has no resistance and the retreat cost is one. So, as we can see, this card is very similar to Salazzle.

Now lets talk about the previous mentioned Tapu Koko.

Tapu Koko – Lightning – HP110

Basic Pokemon

[C][C] Spin Flight: Does 20 damage to each of your opponent’s Pokemon. (Don’t apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.)

[L][L][C] Lightning Ball: 100 damage.

Weakness: Fighting (-20)

Resistance: Metal (-20)

Retreat: 0

This Pokemon promo card, is a Reprint of the Tapu Koko from SM2 theme deck, but with shiny coloring! Tapu Koko is a basic electric type pokemon with 110 H P and contains two attacks. Spin Flight and Lightning Ball: that makes 100 damage. Is weak to fighting type and has resistance to metal. Has no retreat cost.

Tapu Koko GX card was also revealed but I talk about it, in a different blog.

The next card is, Mimikyu.

Mimikyu – Psychic – HP70 Basic Pokemon

[C] Pilfer: Draw 2 cards.

[P][C] Mimic: If your opponent used an attack during
his or her last turn (excluding GX attacks), use that
attack as this attack.

Weakness: none
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

This is a basic Psychic pokemon that has 70 HP. It contains 2 two attacks, Pilfer and Mimic which is a so that a great idea of attack , but with that low amount of HP, it will be very difficult to maintain in a game against stronger cards. This card has no weakness or resistance.  The retreat cost is 1.

The next card is Alolan Sandshrew.

Alolan Sandshrew – Water – HP60 Basic Pokemon

[.] Defense Curl: Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all damage done
to this Pokemon by attacks during your opponent’s next turn.
[W][C][C] Ice Ball: 30 damage.
Weakness: Metal (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

This Pokemon, unlike its regular fighting typing, alolan version is Water. It has 60 HP and contains two attacks. The first one is Defense Curl and the second one is, Ice Ball that leads to 30 damage. The Weakness is to Metal and has no Resistance. The Retreat cost is 1.

Alolan Sandshrew evolves to Alolan Sandslash

Alolan Sandslash – Water – HP110

Stage 1 – Evolves from Alolan Sandshrew

Ability: Snow Shovel: Once during your turn (before your attack), you may draw 1 card.

[W][C][C] Smash Turn: 50 damage. Switch this Pokemon with 1 of your Benched Pokemon.

Weakness: Metal (x2)

Resistance: none

Retreat: 2

Another revealed card revealed for march was, Komala.
